Valerian is used for depression, hysteria, insomnia, headaches and restlessness. It is indicated in digestive disorders caused by tension and when there is sleeplessness due to pain. It can help improve the heart rate and reduce stress and dizziness.
 
Contraindications: Valerian can cause drowsiness. Don’t take valerian before operating machinery. A percentage of people (estimated at as much as 15%) have an opposite reaction to valerian where they are stimulated rather than relaxed. Valerian has a strong smell that some may find offensive.
